Off the grid

The power was off yesterday from around 1 – 9 p.m. Quite a storm but thankfully no damage either here or at Filbert Street.

We went ahead with our dinner plans and had Steve and Cathy over. I roasted the chicken on the bbq, cooked Davids snow peas on the side burner and had potato salad and green salad – neither of which required electricity.  It was a good visit. Butter tarts and wine rounded out the meal.

There’s more and more produce at the market every week. Today Joanne said that her garden is producing so much she doesn’t know how she’ll be able to get it all to the market :). Awesome news after a wet spring and late planting.

Many of the vendors at Combermere had garlic. Big fat smelly local garlic.  Brilliant.

I look forward having my own. It should be ready to harvest in a few weeks.

Looking forward to a lazy day.
